Seeing is believing….and believing is seeing. When it comes to achieving your goals, big or small, you have to open your eyes and look around!
In this post I want to show you how simple it is to start turning your life around by making a few subtle changes in your day-to-day routine. It won’t cost you any money. It really won’t even cost you any time. This is a very simple exercise you can literally use wherever you are!
Let me start by having you ask yourself a few questions…sort of an evaluation of your happiness level. If none of these apply to you then FANTASTIC; you probably already use this strategy in your own life and I would guess you would describe yourself as a happy person who is on their way to achieving their dreams and doing super awesome successful amazing things! Rock on, you little hippie you!! As for everyone else, if you answer yes to any of these questions, you can benefit from implementing this routine into your day.
Here we go:
1. Do you suffer from depression/anxiety?
2. Do you follow almost the same routine day in and day out without any variety?
3. Do you distance yourself from social media? From social gatherings?
4. Do you have an addiction?
5. Do you have a high level of stress that is work-related?
6. Do you have financial stress hanging over your head?
7. Do you feel like you never have time for yourself?
8. Do you feel bad about your self-image?
***I would like to add a disclaimer here that while I do think there are positive ways you can change your outlook to live a better life I also know that talking to a doctor who specializes in mental health is ALWAYS an option. I have been there myself and have been on medication in the past. There is absolutely no shame in seeking professional help. These are just alternative/additional options to practice!
Okay….how did you do? I’ll be honest, if I was answering these questions about a month ago, I would have answered yes to almost all of them! I know a lot of you are in the same boat. But what if it didn’t have to be that way? Guess what?! IT DOESN’T! It will take some effort on your part and you have to be consistent with it but the results are better than anything else you’ve tried…trust me I’ve tried everything! So what is it? I almost feel stupid telling you because it’s so simple but here it is….
The key to achieving your dreams is simply to SEE them coming true. Yep, it’s that simple…and I do feel kind of silly putting it out there. In fact, I’m SURE you’ve heard it before. Here’s the thing though. If you’ve heard it before but you didn’t BELIEVE it and you didn’t put it into action then chances are you never got anything out of it and you tucked it into some back alley of your brain. Well, get it back out and throw some lipstick on it and I’ll tell you how to show it a good time!
In order for this concept to work well, like I said, you have to do it over and over. Make it a routine to the point that you don’t even have to think about it! I could ramble on about how to “See your dreams” but it will get muddy and you will lose interest so I’ve organized it into this nice little list. Feel free to write it down and stick it on your fridge as a reminder, the point is just TRY it.
Steps to achieve your dreams through visualization:
-Map out your dreams/goals. You can do this in your head by simply visualizing the things you think will make you a happier, more successful person or you can write them down. Get a piece of paper (like, a real piece of paper..this won’t work on word.) In the center of the paper write “GOALS”. Circle it. Highlight it…do what you do. Then as quickly as possible, write down every single thing that you want out of life in the space around it.

-Memorize the things you wrote down. You want to keep them in mind constantly so that they will guide you in the decisions you make every day. “Should I eat a whole supreme pizza by myself?” “Will that get me to my goal of being a fitness advisor?”
-USE those goals you listed as scenes in the movie of your life. Mentally picture them happening. Put yourself into the scene and think about how you FEEL in that scene. Is it stress-free? Does it make you feel motivated? Empowered? Visualize it! I have to note; there is a difference between fantasizing and visualizing in this case. You have to believe that you WILL be in that scene one day. You have to see it and use it as motivation to get there because of how bad you want it. If you are simply “wishing” for it…you won’t get anywhere. You will actually be more let down than anything because you don’t believe it is even a “real” possibility.
-Act out your dreams. BE you in the role that you’re imagining! You don’t need to lie or be fake to do this either. Picture how your life would be different if you really were in your movie. Would you be nicer? Would you have more energy? Would you be wiser? Act that way NOW and you’re that much closer to BEING that person you want to be. How many times have you said “oh man…I can’t wait until I don’t have to be so stressed out and I can just be happier and do the things I want” I’ve said it a million times too. At some point you have to realize though that whatever you keep telling yourself is what you’re going to believe so why not make the things you’re telling yourself be AWESOME instead?
-Say it out loud over and over. Write it down. Say it in your head. Daydream about it. Tell other people what you want. Just get it out there!! I have always been afraid of failing. Terified of failure actually. It’s not that I held myself back from doing things, it’s more that I refused to try anything UNTIL I had it completely figured out. I wouldn’t even tell anyone I was thinking about trying something because if I failed then I would have to say that I failed. The truth is, that by saying it out loud you are making it even more personal and it becomes more motivating for you to succeed! “But what if I still fail?” THERE’S NO FAILING! You don’t have to tell yourself or anyone else that you “failed”…you tell them that you TRIED and by trying you either find success or you gain experience.
So that’s it. It works. Self-confidence + Vision + Consistency = Success! You just have to believe you can do it and you will. I really hope you try it today and every day, it definitely can’t hurt!
